Reed Accountancy & Finance are delighted to be partnering with a growing Liverpool-based business in their search for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their finance team on a permanent basis.

This is a varied, hands-on role supporting a multi-entity business, taking ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping activities and ensuring accurate financial records are maintained across several trading companies. Working closely with external accountants and senior management, you'll play a key role in maintaining strong financial controls and supporting the smooth running of the finance function.

Key Responsibilities

• Bank, credit card and account reconciliations

• Maintaining sales and purchase ledgers

• Processing supplier invoices and preparing payment runs

• Raising sales invoices and allocating customer receipts

• Credit control and chasing overdue payments

• Managing intercompany transactions and reconciliations

• Assisting with cash flow reporting and forecasting

• Preparing VAT returns under Making Tax Digital (MTD)

• Processing CIS returns

• Liaising with payroll providers and reconciling payroll-related figures

• Preparing month-end information for external accountants

• Posting journals, accruals and prepayments

• Maintaining accurate financial records and resolving accounting discrepancies

Person Specification

• Previous bookkeeping experience within a busy finance environment

• Good working knowledge of VAT, CIS and payroll processes

• Strong reconciliation experience across bank, supplier and customer accounts

• Experience processing invoices and managing ledgers

• Understanding of accruals and prepayments

• Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills

• Experience using cloud-based accounting systems

• Highly organised with strong attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

• Confident communicator with a proactive approach to problem solving

Desirable Experience

• AAT qualified or studying towards AAT

• Experience within construction, fit-out, manufacturing or project-based environments

• Exposure to job costing and intercompany accounting

• Experience using ERP or cloud-based accounting systems
